Why Iceland and Chinese Medicine?
Iceland - an island in the North Atlantic Ocean, known as the Land of Fire and Ice - evokes images of contrasting landscape with volcanoes, geysers, geothermal pools and hot springs, lava fields, waterfalls, glaciers, and the Aurora Borealis.
Iceland is a progressive and modern country that ranks among the highest for health, education, sustainable and renewable energy, and peace.
In Chinese medicine, Fire represents Yang and Ice represents Yin. The concept of Yin and Yang represents a fundamental categorizing system. Yin relates to: dark, night, moon, coolness, inward, liquidity, earth, and rest. Yang relates to: light, day, sun, warmth, outward, dryness, heaven, and activity.
While these categories and Iceland's geological contrasts may appear to be opposites, everything is a blend of Yin and Yang. It is the movement between Yin and Yang that creates balance and health.
If you are ready to take some time for yourself, gain energy to give to yourself and others, and transform your body and mind toward a path of health, then join me for a cultural and spiritual retreat in Iceland October 7-13, 2018.
FIND YOUR BALANCE
IN THE LAND OF FIRE & ICE ~ ICELAND
OCTOBER 7-13, 2018
Watching the sunrise, you see the entire city of Reykjavik from colorful rooftops and houses, and sparkling ocean waters, to the majestic volcanic Mount Esja.
Passing by stretches of black lava fields covered with vibrant green moss, you can imagine the mystical elves, fairies, trolls and powerful hidden forces that lie within the landscape. Just don't disturb their homes, or you may experience their mayhem.
Soaking in the warm waters of the geothermal pool, you feel yourself relaxing, rejuvenating and healing like an Icelander.
Strolling the paths of Tjornin Pond, you stop to rest on one of the benches to enjoy the balance between stunning architecture and enchanting nature.
As night falls, you search the sky for the dancing colors of the Northern Lights.
Ah...the delights of Iceland!
So...WHY should you join me?
By the end of this retreat, through the Fire and Ice of Iceland and the balancing energies of Yin and Yang meditation and qigong, you will be energized and recharged to find yourself, healing and peace. I love to travel. Experiencing diverse cultures, "doing as the locals do", and learning foreign languages is a passion of mine. This all started in my 20s traveling through Europe. I even have a map in my home marking all the places I have traveled to so far.
Another passion of mine is Chinese medicine - providing personalized treatments and education to clients to heal their body, mind, emotions and spirit.
After experiencing dramatic healing with acupuncture, I decided my life's path was to help people on their own road to health and healing. I completed my Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida.
I have since expanded my healing knowledge by studying the eldest Chinese medicine modality - Medical Qigong. As a Doctor of Medical Qigong (DMQ 2,000-hours), Joy is certified with the International Institute of Medical Qigong. My dissertation focused on how mental, emotional, and spiritual levels impact one's health, and the ability to heal oneself.
Additionally, I am nationally board certified in Oriental Medicine. I am a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
